Iraq and Iran discuss security developments in the region

    INA - BAGHDAD

    National Security Advisor Qassim Al-Araji discussed on Tuesday, the latest security developments in the region with the Secretary-General of the Iranian National Security Council, Ali-Akbar Ahmadian.

    The meeting came on the sidelines of the 12th international meeting of senior officials on security issues, held in the St. Petersburg, Russia, according to a statement by the media office of the National Security Advisor received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.

    They discussed the latest security developments in the region and ways to strengthen cooperation relations between Baghdad and Tehran, especially in the fields of security, intelligence, border control, counterterrorism and drugs.

    Al-Araji stressed “the importance of the international community coming together in the face of the challenges facing the region, to prevent the escalation of crises and conflicts in addition to their repercussions on the overall situation in the region.”
