As a result of the tribal dispute, the Interior Ministry announced today, Monday, that a curfew was implemented in the Islah district of Dhi Qar and that 75 people were arrested.

"Despite the continuous confirmations from the Ministry of Interior on the importance of staying away from tribal conflicts that rise to the level of terrorism and terrorize and kill people, some still insist that weapons prevail instead of the law and its enforcement, and this is totally rejected," the ministry stated in a statement obtained by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).

The ministry declared, "There has been a serious breach of the rule of law with the crime against the director of intelligence and counterterrorism of Dhi Qar, Brigadier General (Aziz Shalal Jahl), which resulted in his martyrdom."

It said, "Large-scale operations have been initiated, the result of which has been the seizure of numerous weapons and the arrest of (75) accused from both sides of the conflict in accordance with judicial arrest warrants."

As stated by the ministry, "a team of senior investigators was sent to investigate the incident of Brigadier General (Aziz Shallal Jahl)'martyrdom, and the duty continues until all those involved in this criminal act are arrested."
