The launch of the first Baghdad Film Festival

    The activities of the first Baghdad Film Festival - Muhammad Shukri Jamil’s edition - were launched today, Saturday, under the patronage of Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani.

    The Iraqi News Agency (INA) correspondent reported, “The festival is organized by the Artists Syndicate under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities, in cooperation with the Cinema and Theater Department, and continues for five days.”.

    She added, "The opening ceremony was held at the Al-Mansour Theater in Celebration Square, and the activities will take place at the Al-Rashid and Al-Watani theaters until Wednesday, the fourteenth of February.

    The Minister of Culture, Ahmed Fakak Al-Badrani, confirmed in his speech during the festival that, "The festival this year is attended by icons of Iraqi and Arab cinema, which It constitutes an image of absolute beauty due to the sophisticated and purposeful art that their cinematic works conveyed.”.

    He added, “Many of the events would have almost been erased from memory had cinema not established them in works of art that were embraced by screens and festivals,” noting, “Baghdad’s embrace of this great festival is confirmation With Iraq’s sponsorship of creativity in its various forms.”.

    In turn, the head of the Artists Syndicate, Habar Joudi, said in his speech: “The Baghdad Film Festival would not have been possible without the generous support of Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani and his continuous follow-up.” Joudi wished the attendees to enjoy the participating cinematic performances.
