The Security Media Cell announced today, Saturday, the seizure of an underground tunnel belonging to ISIS terrorist gangs, west of Nineveh.
SMC said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “Based on accurate intelligence information from the Fifteenth Division Division of the Military Intelligence Directorate, in cooperation with intelligence and a force from the Twenty-First Brigade, and after searching and inspecting the Abbas Plain area, west of Nineveh, a tunnel was seized.” Underground, 80 meters long, divided into two branches, each branch 40 meters long.
SMC added, "Inside the tunnel there are (3) rooms suitable for living and storing equipment and weapons, and inside it are (4) homemade explosive devices in the shape of a jerrycan with a capacity of 20 liters containing the explosive C4, and (4) homemade explosive devices in the shape of a jerrycan with a capacity of 5 liters inside CONTAINING C4 explosive material, a (30) meter long fuse, (3) BKC tapes with a capacity of 100 rounds, (33) different caliber mortar bombs, (33) detonators, (204) propellant charges, (44) 12.7 mm ammunition container, and wires."
SMC also noted that, “The engineering effort detachments were responsible for removing the materials and destroying them on site.”
