The head of the Counter-Terrorism Service ICTS, Lieutenant General Karim Al-Tamimi, explained the electronic application process for soldiers on Wednesday. He emphasized that 8 million citizens applied in the first few hours after the volunteering link was launched and refuted any claims that volunteering is paid for.
"The opportunity to apply electronically to join the Service as a soldier, is available to all Iraqis," stated Al-Tamimi in a statement on the program Al-Watan wal-Nas, which airs on Al-Iraqiya News and is covered by the Iraqi News Agency (INA). He noted that "the application platform is open, and I follow the subject at first hand."
"All applicants have equal chances," he continued, asserting that "the application is through the conditions set."
"It is incorrect and unacceptable to discuss paying money to apply for ICTS," he stated, adding that "everyone is subject to a physical examination and success in the tests provides the opportunity for acceptance."
"8 million people have applied to the platform in the first few hours after we launched the volunteer link, he said, revealing "electronic sorting of names will take place and opportunities will be available to all who meet the requirements."
He stated that "the opportunity is available to everyone," and that "security safety and the security situation have a role in that."
