Iran praises Iraq's efforts in combating the drug scourge

    The Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, discussed on Tuesday, with Iran's police chief, Ahmed Reza Radan, a number of issues that serve the two countries in the field of combating drugs, while the latter praised Iraq’s efforts in combating this scourge.

    A statement by the Ministry of Interior, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that “Interior Minister Abdul Amir al-Shammari held a meeting at the headquarters of the General Directorate for Combating Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances, with the Police Chief of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ahmed Reda Radan, the Iranian Ambassador, and a number of leaders from both sides."

    The statement added, "The two sides discussed a number of issues that serve the two countries in the field of drug control, including exchanging information about traffickers of this scourge and controlling and strengthening the borders and their crossings, to implement the memorandum of understanding that the Ministry of Interior concluded with its Iranian counterpart in the field of drug control."

    The Iranian police chief praised "Iraq's efforts in combating this scourge and expressed his country's readiness to fully cooperate in this regard."
