INSS dismantles a drug trafficking network east of Baghdad

    Iraqi National Security Service (INSS) announced On Thursday, the dismantling of a drug trafficking network east of Baghdad.

    INSS said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The heroes of the National Security Service continue their qualitative operations to pursue forms of drug dealing and strike the dens of dealers and promoters after an intelligence effort and careful monitoring of one of the networks classified as dangerous, a force from the agency, and after obtaining judicial approvals, was able to raid Members of the network were arrested and (5) of them were in possession of quantities of narcotic drugs estimated at more than (3) kg, in addition to seizing various firearms."

    The statement added, "This network includes the most important traffickers and distributors of narcotic poisons on the Rusafa side of Baghdad," pointing out that "our detachments were able to overthrow (2) of the defendants while chasing them between the alleys and arresting them in possession of the seized items after they tried to get rid of them, and through their evidence, the rest of them were reached network members."

    It stated that "the defendants' statements were duly recorded and they were referred to the competent judicial authorities to take the necessary measures against them in accordance with the law."
