Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, stressed on Sunday the necessity of developing the performance and capabilities of the Ministry of Interior-MOI in order to assume the security responsibility in all governorates.
“Over a whole month, the preparations were ongoing in planning and mobilizing to protect the pilgrims of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), and I must especially mention the staff of the Ministry of Interior who had a high level of control and commitment to duty, and the provincial police leadership also had a prominent role in securing all roads leading to Holy Karbala,” stated Interior Minister Abd al-Amir al-Shammari in a video clip followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
He added, "The greatest role was played by the leadership of the Federal Police, the Border Forces, and the Rapid Intervention Squad, as well as the role of the FIIA and its qualitative effort in implementing the effective plan in monitoring and following up on all intelligence information, whether it obtained it or through other security services."
He stressed that "The ministry is capable of planning, implementation and follow-up," stressing "the development of the ministry's performance and its combat and security capabilities so that we can assume security responsibility in all provinces."
