The start of the Iraqi final chess tournament in Anbar

    The Iraqi men’s and women’s final chess tournament begins today, Saturday, in the hall of Al- Maearif University in Anbar Governorate and continues until the fifteenth of this month.

    The head of the Chess Federation, Dhafer Abdul Amir, said in a statement to Al-Sabah newspaper, followed by the Iraqi News Agency on Saturday: “The technical meeting will be held at four o’clock in the afternoon, during which the appeals committee will be formed, after which the first round will begin at exactly five o’clock in the afternoon.”.

    He added, "This tournament is important for the chess family because, in light of its results, the national teams will be named for upcoming external competitions," indicating that the women's event will be limited to the champions of the age groups under (16, 18, and 20) years, in addition to the players who hold the titles (WIM, WFM), as well as the female team players. National (b).
    He added that the competitions are held according to the Swiss system, with nine rounds, and the playing time for each player is (70) minutes, with (30) seconds added for each completed move, while the tie is broken by the result of the direct match.

    He pointed out that "the women's tournament is registered with the International Federation and all the rules and regulations of the International Federation are applied, while the top five winners qualify for the final stage of the tournament."
