The Ministerial Council of Economy crosses out four items from imports list

    The Ministerial Council of Economy decided to crosses out four items from the imports lists, and announced a reduction in the customs tariff on live animals imported for slaughter (cattle and sheep) by 4%.

    Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fouad Hussein chaired the 23rd session of the Ministerial Council for Economy, in the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Planning, the Ministers of Finance, Trade, Industry and Agriculture, the Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq and the Prime Minister's advisors for Economic and Legal Affairs as well as the Chairman of the Securities Commission, according to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.

    The council discussed the items on its agenda and took the appropriate decisions in this regard," pointing out that "the council hosted the general manager of the General Company for the Import of Medicines and Medical Supplies in addition to the general director of the Government Contracts Department in the Ministry of Planning and advisor Hamoudi Abbas from the Board of Advisors to discuss amending the controls for supplying medicines, serums, vaccines, supplies and medical devices, and work to localize the pharmaceutical industry by providing all the necessary facilities to encourage the pharmaceutical industry and national medical supplies.

    They also decided to remove juices, soft drinks, cakes of all kinds, and pastries from the import lists, provided that "the decision is reviewed within a period of one year by the Department of Industrial Development and Organization in the Ministry of Industry and Minerals in assessing the extent to which the local market was affected by this deletion, negatively or positively."

    There is coordination between the Ministries of Commerce and Agriculture in order to price, sell and deliver bran for the benefit of livestock breeders.

    The statement included, “The Council also decided to recommend to the Council of Ministers to reduce the customs tariff on live animals imported for slaughter (cattle and sheep) to be by 4%, as importers can enter the electronic platform to buy dollars to cover import costs and at the official exchange rate."

    The Council also approved amending the proposed fees to grant and renew the license for tourist facilities, travel and tourism companies.
