Indiana State Police announced that one person was killed, while 19 others were injured, during a "mass shooting" incident at a large party in the American state.
Star Press newspaper reported that Manse police personnel rushed to the scene at dawn on Sunday after receiving several reports of gunfire in the eastern side of the city shortly after one o'clock at night.
The newspaper stated that the dead man was named Joseph Bonner, 30 years old.
For its part, police said in a press statement that the accident resulted in the injury of “several” people, some of whom are in serious condition.
"Due to the number of casualties and the nature of the incident, several security centers have been contacted for assistance," said Melissa Creswell, Deputy Chief of Manse Police.
Several police officers from the nearby town of Eaton were among those who rushed to help, Police Chief Jay Turner described the incident as a "mass shooting".
