Oil Minister inaugurates a number of vital projects in the West Qurna/1 field

    Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil Hayan Abdul Ghani inaugurated on Saturday, a number of vital projects in the West Qurna / 1 field.
     
    Abdul-Ghani said during the inauguration of the projects, according to a statement by the Ministry of Oil received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "These projects included the associated water treatment unit project with a capacity of 235 thousand barrels per day, The plant consists of three centrifugal processing units with 2 tanks with a capacity of 10 thousand cubic meters."
     
    The aim of the project is to optimize the use of water for the treatment of water injections associated with the main reservoir layer, which aims to reduce the pollution process and increase the reservoir pressure to sustain and increase oil production, "he said, noting that" this project is a vital project for reservoir support in the field of West Qurna/1 ".
     
    Abdel Ghani added that "The other project that has been opened is the Sixth Station Links Project, which includes linking old projects to the new ones, to achieve the objective of improving infrastructure, unloading bottlenecks and achieving streamlining in the process of transporting crude oil without having to stop production through the completion and operation of a new control system with advanced technology as well as the construction of an integrated fire system, with the completion of two new tanks with a capacity of 10 thousand cubic meters with a new gas burning system and oil extraction unit of gas operations before combustion process, connecting wet oil processing unit with new oil washing pumps which in turn improve the specifications and quality of the produced crude oil ".
     
    Ministry of Oil Undersecretary for Gas Affairs, Ezzat Saber said that “"The ministry has drawn up promising plans to invest associated gas and convert it into useful energy and stop burning it within the next few years."
    On the rate of production of the field and the importance of the project, the Director General of the Basra Oil Company, Bassem Abdul Karim, said, "The field's production currently stands at 560,000 barrels per day, and the projects that have been inaugurated aim to support increased production, achieve a high flow in technical operations, and upgrade the infrastructure," stressing that "The percentage of national employment in the field exceeded 90%."
