The Ministry of Oil announced on Tuesday, the start date of the four gas projects contracted with the French company Total, while indicating that government directives are to expedite the implementation of projects.
"One of the Ministry's plans is to conclude a contract with Total to provide the required quantities of gas and end part of the burned gas file," The Undersecretary for Extraction Affairs, Bassem Muhammad Khudair, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
Khudair elaborated that the contract includes four important projects, including the project to develop the Artawi field, the project of gas extraction from the fields of Majnoon and West Qurna2 and other fields, as well as the sea water project, which is a very important project, in addition to the project to establish an electric generation station with a capacity of one thousand megawatts, and uses energy solar panels in line with oil industry practices by using clean energy and reducing gas emissions”.
He pointed out that "The directives of the federal government and the Ministry of Oil that the implementation of the four projects be accelerated in parallel ,noting "After a month, practical steps will begin on the ground, such as establishing infrastructure, and it is hoped, according to studies, after 3 years, that we will reap the fruits of these projects."
