The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities clarified the mechanism of restoring artifacts while confirming the use of Iraqi capabilities and expertise.
"The team that works in the field of maintaining and restoring artifacts or manuscripts is an Iraqi team that works with distinguished capabilities. The ministry prepares courses from time to time with other authorities and foreign experiences," said the official spokesman for the ministry, Ahmed Al-Alyawi, to the Iraqi News Agency - INA.
Al-Alyawi explained, "The artifacts are preserved at a high level and within international standards and specifications," noting that "in the event that an intervention is required for the purposes of restoration, a mechanism is applied that includes diagnosing the requirements and taking the piece to the maintenance for restoration department to work on it and rehabilitate it."
