The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transportation in Iran, Effendi Zadeh, stressed on Saturday, that the Development Road project is an opportunity for the countries of the region.
Zadeh said in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "There are many possibilities and opportunities in the issue of railway corridors, north-south, and east-west corridors for all countries in the region, such as Iran, UAE, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Oman, which represents an opportunity in the field of transporting goods," pointing to That "the role of railways is very important, and this new project in Iraq will have an excellent role in transporting goods."
He added, "The big project between Iraq and Iran is to link the railways from Shalamcheh to Basra," stressing that "work on the detailed phase of this project will begin in the coming days."
"Iran has a role in the field of transit and transportation of goods to Russia and Central Asian countries, and we look forward to joint work in new areas of cooperation, especially in transporting goods to Europe via Iran or Iraq, which represents an excellent opportunity for all countries in the region to benefit from the Development Road Project in transporting goods in general,” he continued.
