Minister of Planning Mohammed Tamim said on Monday that the establishment of the Iraqi-UAE Economic Forum represents a distinct qualitative leap for economic, financial and investment activities from the two countries, while pointing to the government's support for the role of the private sector.
Tamim said in a speech during the launch of the Iraqi-UAE Business Forum in Baghdad, attended by the reporter of the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the establishment of the forum confirms the depth of the bilateral relationship between Iraq and the UAE and the joint quest to achieve the desired economic integration in the face of the challenges facing the whole world."
He pointed out that the Iraqi private sector has begun to find its right steps in holding more with its counterparts in the countries of the region, especially the UAE, and these partnerships will have a great role in terms of real contribution to the process of construction and development of various sectors.
He added that "the holding of this forum indicates the existence of broad prospects for joint cooperation between the private sector in the two countries in light of the presence of great investment opportunities in Iraq," expressing his aspiration to achieve more economic and investment integration and to pay great attention to energy and clean energy projects, as well as housing, transport and agriculture projects.
Tamim stressed "the readiness of the Iraqi government to provide all possible support and facilities required to provide the appropriate environment for businessmen from the two countries," pointing to "the key role that the private sector can play in increasing economic growth rates and reducing dependence on oil through the development of non-oil sectors and manufacturing industries."
He explained that "supporting the private sector is consistent with the priorities of the government program and the directions of the government," stressing the great keenness on the success of this forum and to have a permanent secretariat that works to follow up on its results and crystallize them into practical measures that serve the future of development and the development of business reality in the two brotherly countries.
