The Ministry of Interior announced Thursday that it had found a yard for smuggling oil derivatives in Maysan.
A statement by the ministry, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated, "The first regiment of the Fifth Energy Police Brigade was able, through a joint duty to conduct a raid on a yard used for smuggling oil derivatives in Maysan Governorate."
The statement added, "Two large iron tanks with a capacity of 20,000 liters, the second with 30,000 liters, 12 tanks with a capacity of 1,000 liters, and 6 tanks and barrels of different capacities were found, all filled with an unknown quantity and quality of petroleum products,” noting that “the seizures were seized in preparation for completing the investigation procedures and presenting them to the competent judiciary in accordance with Law No. 41 of 2008 on combating smuggling of oil and its derivatives.”
