The Federal Intelligence and Investigation Agency FIIA announced on Wednesday the dismantling of a terrorist detachment consisting of three dangerous elements in Diyala.
A statement by FIIA, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that "the Federal Intelligence and Investigation Agency in the Ministry of Interior succeeded in directing successive strikes to terrorist elements and carrying out a number of qualitative operations based on information that led, after analyzing intelligence reports, to reveal the existence of terrorist intentions to carry out criminal acts, and as a result of this information, the detachments began to carry out a qualitative duty that resulted in the arrest of a dangerous terrorist cell in Diyala province."
The statement added that "the cell consists of three elements who provided support with equipment and food to the hideouts of ISIS terrorist gangs, and one of them participated in the kidnapping of two citizens in 2020," pointing out that "legal measures have been taken against them and referred them to the judiciary."
