Prime Minister Muhammed S. Al-Sudani affirmed on Wednesday, that his government has initiated a set of administrative reforms and decisive initiatives to combat corruption and improve public services.

Al-Sudani participated, via a televised circuit, in the conference of Summit for Democracy, which was held virtually via the Internet, and his participation came at an official invitation from the President of this summit, the President of the United States of America, Joe Biden, where leaders and representatives of 115 countries from around the world participated in it, according to a statement by the Prime Minister's media office received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.

The Prime Minister gave a speech in which he talked about the democratic experience in Iraq, and the Iraqi people's determination to face all the challenges that stand in the way of this march, and in the following are the most important things that came in it: "Iraq has long experiences of struggles in which our people made sacrifices in order to gain their freedom, after the dictatorship isolated Iraq for years behind the bars of oppression and repression. Since the vote on it months ago, our government has set many priorities, perhaps foremost among them is the issue of consolidating democracy in political and social life.”

He included, "The political differences did not affect the government in providing care to all Iraqis. The constitution affirms pluralism, which is the ceiling under which we meet and resort to, and this represents the basis of democratic action in countries that adopt democracy as a political and social concept."

"Our government is keen on paving the way for freedom of opinion and expression in accordance with the law, and providing the necessary environment for holding the local elections scheduled for this year. Restoring the citizen's confidence and urging them to continue their role in completing the formulation of the democratic system is a national task that lies at the core of our priorities," he explained.

He noted that "our government has taken several measures to develop the energy sector and invest in the gas associated with oil extraction, in order to stop the losses of this important wealth for future generations, and to obtain an important source for operating power plants, and reducing environmental pollution."
