Ministry Environment: International support to help Iraq deal with climate change

    The Ministry of Environment confirmed today, Sunday, that there is a serious and effective international move to enable Iraq with adaptation and mitigation projects for the purpose of eliminating climate change.
     
    The Assistant Director General of the Ministry of Environment, Anam Thabet, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "There will be many changes towards Iraq regarding the issue of climate change," stressing that "there is a serious and effective international movement in enabling Iraq with adaptation and mitigation projects for the purpose of getting rid of the impact of climate changes, including helping Iraq in agriculture and afforestation, providing water sources from the source, and others.
    Thabet added, "The aim of these projects is to alleviate or control the gases associated with the oil industry and how to benefit from it, in addition to reducing the impact of its combustion in the atmosphere."
     
    Thabet called for "a serious stance by the global community and by neighboring countries and sectoral authorities in particular in Iraq, as well as by the government, in order to control the environmental situation and return Iraq to its natural state in terms of air and water pollution or reduce the effects of this pollution and restore Iraq to what It was thirty and forty years ago."
