Ministry of industry announces the establishment of batteries and lead foundries factories

    The Ministry of Industry and Minerals announced the conclusion of partnership contracts to establish new factories for the production of batteries and lead foundries.

    "The production lines for the battery industry are diverse," said the ministry's official spokesperson, Duha al-Jubouri, to the Iraqi News Agency (INA).

    She added, "The Ministry's Babylon factory includes two lines for the production of batteries, the first is (the Italian Sofima line), which produces batteries with the magic eye with capacities (62 amps, 74 amps, 90 amps, 100 amps, and the design capacity of this line is 500,000 batteries annually.".

    She added, "The second line of the factory is the old line that produces (the lead acid battery) with capacities (135 amps, 150 amps), noting that" the design capacity of the line is 700 batteries per day. "The condition of this line is not good," she said, pointing to "a
    need The factory is to be rehabilitated and equipped with additional machines and equipment to produce different capacities.

    In addition to that she continued, "The ministry concluded a 20-year partnership contract to establish an integrated battery factory consisting of (a lead foundry, a battery factory, and a plastic parts factory), with a production capacity of 800,000 batteries annually, whose production includes a solar energy battery, an unsustainable battery (the magic eye) of various capacities." She explained that "the site was handed over to Al-Etimad Al-Asil Company to complete it within a year and a half, according to the contract.".

    Furthermore she indicated that "a contract was concluded with PTA Middle East Company to establish a factory for lead foundries for batteries," explaining that "the contract includes the rehabilitation and processing of equipment, machinery, and operation to reach a production capacity of 15 thousand tons of pure lead annually, and the contract completion period will be 24 months from the date of delivery.".
