The head of the Federal Commission of Integrity COI , Haider Hanoun, stressed Wednesday the importance of working on the files of recovering money and convicts.
A statement by COI , received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that "the head of the Federal Commission Integrity , Haider Hanoun, received the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq, Ghulam Muhammad Ishaq Zai, and the Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Iraq, Ali Al-Barir, and Deputy Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Ghamar Hani Deeb.
Hanoun stressed during the meeting, according to the statement, the importance of working on the files of recovering funds and convicts, and intensifying efforts in the field of addressing inflated funds and illicit gain.”
He pointed to "the presence of international organizations in Iraq and their endeavor to provide expertise and experience," explaining that "the Commission's investigators need moral support, acquire skills and increase experience in the field of preventing and combating corruption, and benefit from international experiences in that, and also need technical support by providing modern tools and equipment that support them in investigation.
In turn, representatives of international organizations in Iraq referred to "the proposals that were submitted and presented to the Prime Minister, who referred them to the commission," noting that "work is underway to form a team from both parties to study them and then turn them into action plans and programs to be ready for implementation."
They expressed "their readiness to provide moral support, training, imparting skills, and providing the staff of the commission with expertise," stressing that "improving Iraq's position within the reports of international transparency indicators of corruption perceptions is by focusing on extradition, witness protection, and prevention of corruption."
