Iraqi National Security Service INSS announced Thursday the arrest of a gang that kidnapped and killed two girls in Baghdad.
INSS stated, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), "With intelligence efforts and careful field follow-up, a force from the National Security Service in Baghdad was able to arrest a gang consisting of (3) people who kidnapped and killed two girls under the age of seven after bargaining with their families over sums of money.”
The statement added, "The operation took place after obtaining judicial approvals, as the homes of the accused were raided in the Ur district, east of Baghdad, and the bodies of the two victims were found, and a firearm was in the possession of the accused," noting that "their statements were recorded and referred to the competent judicial authorities to take the necessary measures against them."
