The Popular Mobilization Forces PMF issued Wednesday, a statement regarding its relief and humanitarian campaign for those affected by the earthquake in Syria.
A statement by the PMF, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), said: "In light of the emergency humanitarian response efforts and in line with the directions of the Iraqi government to stand with the Syrian Arab Republic, the Popular Mobilization Campaign was launched under the supervision of the head of PMF, Faleh Al-Fayyad, to provide relief to those affected by the earthquake that struck Syrian cities."
"The Popular Mobilization Forces deployed their efforts to contribute to addressing the effects of the devastating earthquake through relief and search and rescue operations under the rubble of collapsed buildings and the associated efforts of first and medium aid through detachments and field hospitals," the statement added.
"Engineering, service, medical and logistical units and specialized rescue teams entered Syrian territory heading to the stricken city of Aleppo," it said, noting that "a team of experts accompanies the campaign to assess needs and provide assistance in all its forms."
The statement stressed that "the continuous efforts are highly coordinated by the official competent authorities between the two brotherly countries and will continue until the end of the emergency humanitarian situation."
