MOI: Protesting is a right guaranteed by the constitution, it must be secured

    Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shimmari affirmed on Saturday, that protesting is a right guaranteed by the Iraqi constitution, and any authorized protest must be secured.

    Al-Shimmari chaired a meeting at the headquarters of the Ministry's Agency for Police Affairs, with all commanders of the law enforcement forces in Baghdad and the provinces, according to a statement by the ministry, received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.

    The minister stressed, "the need for cooperation and good dealings with all citizens," stressing that "protesting is a right guaranteed by the Iraqi constitution, and any licensed protest must be secured according to the law and a safe in addition to providing an appropriate environment for protesters."

    "I am ready to support all officers and members of the law enforcement forces, provide all their needs and requests, solve all their problems, and complete the administrative, logistical and other requirements of their work," highlighted Al-Shimmari.
