Iraq: Two countries requested to import Iraqi salt

    Ministry of Industry confirmed on Monday, that most Gulf countries want to import Iraqi salt, noting that salt production has increased by about 100,000 tons.

    "The country's need for salt of all kinds; industrial, ground and raw; is covered by the General Company for Mining Industries as Samawah and Basra salts began to establish new production lines to produce a substance Chlorine and other materials within partnership contracts with the private sector," said the Director General of the General Company for Mining Industries in the Ministry, Rafid Abdul Jalil, in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency - INA.

    He noted, "The company has requests to export two types of salt, and the matter is in the process of legal approvals," stressing that "the renaissance that took place last year resulted in an increase in production by 100,000 tons of salt, and thus the possibility of exporting the surplus from local need."

    "Most of the Arab Gulf countries want to import Iraqi salt, and so far a request has been received from two countries in this regard," he included.
