Prime Minister, Mohamed Shia Al-Sudani, left Thursday for Paris on an official visit.

The media office of the Prime Minister stated, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Prime Minister Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani headed today to Paris on an official visit to France, at the head of a high government delegation.

Prime Minister, Mohamed Shia Al-Sudani, earlier expressed his hope that his visit to France would be a good sign and lay the right foundations for a sustainable partnership.

Al-Sudani said, in an article published by the French newspaper Le Monde, followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the Iraqi government today is more convinced of its vision to develop Iraq's regional and international relations on the basis of cooperation and balance, moving away from the policy of axes, and adopting a policy of partnership with many countries of the world, foremost among them  France".

He stressed that "the response of Baghdad and Paris to the common sense of the strategic importance of the relationship between our two countries prompted our government to show more keenness to develop that bilateral relationship and build on its solid foundations."
