Al-Araji: The government is serious about strengthening the relationship with NATO

    The National Security Adviser, Qasim Al-Araji, confirmed today, Tuesday, that the government is serious about strengthening the relationship with NATO to develop the skills and capabilities of our security forces.
     
     
    The media office of the National Security Adviser said, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The National Security Adviser, Qasim Al-Araji, received in his office today, Tuesday, the commander of the NATO Joint Forces Command, Admiral Stuart Munsch and his accompanying delegation," pointing out that "The meeting witnessed a review of the work of the NATO mission in Iraq, and means to enhance cooperation and partnership with the NATO alliance, in the areas of training, advice and capacity development."
    Al-Araji renewed, according to the statement, "The confirmation of Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani the partnership with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO)," noting that "the current government have the support of all political blocs, and is serious about strengthening the relationship with NATO, to develop the skills and capabilities of our forces security and military.”
      "The areas of cooperation with the alliance are great, especially cybersecurity, because NATO has great expertise that can be used in this field," expressing "Iraq's need to secure borders and prevent the infiltration of terrorists, smuggling and drug gangs." According to the statement.
      "Among the Iraqi government's directions is the success of the work of international organizations in Iraq, including NATO," stressing that "the Iraqi forces have gained a lot of experience in the field of combating terrorism."
    For his part, Admiral Munsch stressed that "NATO has a very good partnership with the Iraqi government to increase the capabilities of the military and security institutions, and work to build a long-term partnership that benefits both sides," praising "the skills and field combat capabilities that the Iraqi forces possess."
