British official data showed today, Friday, that the United Kingdom recorded during a week two million cases of the Corona virus, for the first time in three months.
According to the latest figures from the Office for National Statistics, the number of infections continued to rise in England and Wales in the week ending October 11, although the trend of infections (up or down) remains uncertain in Scotland and Northern Ireland.
The total number of people in their homes who tested positive for the coronavirus increased by 15%.
The Office for National Statistics estimates that the number of people who have tested positive for the virus in England is 170,620, equivalent to 3.13% of the population, or about 1 in 30 people.
The figures come a day after a National Influenza and COVID-19 Surveillance report from the UK's Health Security Agency showed that flu cases had risen dramatically in the past week, indicating that the flu season had started earlier than usual.
