The Iraqi feature film (The Hanging Gardens), directed by Ahmed Yassin and Iraqi producer Huda Al-Kadhimi, won an award at the 79th Venice Film Festival.

The director of the film, Ahmed Yassin, said in an exclusive statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "he wrote the film after watching a movie full of war images showing an American sniper and portraying him as a legendary hero full of vitality," noting that "this stereotype provoked him and made him return to his memory of the war experiences that he went through.".

He pointed out that "the film is a personal experience that shows that the war creates violence, repression and conflicts, and the film brings to mind images of those who were lost due to the war," noting that "the film's producer, Huda Al-Kadhimi, made a great effort in producing the film, and she is the owner of a real cinema project that embodies professionalism." in the field of film production in Iraq.

It is noteworthy that the movie “Hunging Gardens” had also won in 2019 one of the initiatives of the Venice Film Festival in the “Final Cut” competition, which aims to support projects and films from Africa and the Middle East, in addition to the film receiving the “Mercury” award for post-production services during its participation as a project Film at El Gouna International Film Festival.
