    INA – BAGHDAD

Ministry of Foreign Affairs – MOFA announced on Wednesday, coordinating with Joint Operations and regional authorities to limit the bombings recurrence.

“MOFA has taken a number of steps towards the Iranian bombing, including issuing a strongly-worded statement and condemning in the strongest terms the result of this provocative unilateral Iranian aggression that affected areas of Kurdistan region of Iraq with many martyrs and injured,” said the ministry's spokesman, Ahmed Al-Sahaf to the Iraqi News Agency – INA.

He added, "The Iranian ambassador to Baghdad was summoned and a strongly worded protest note was handed to him."

"There is coordination between MOFA, the Joint Operations Command and the authorities of the Kurdistan region of Iraq, to limit the recurrence of bombing operations on Iraqi lands," he noted.

Al-Sahaf explained that "the continuation of the strikes constituted a serious qualitative shift that started with artillery shelling to missile bombardment and then ended with drones carrying explosive materials.”

"The Ministry considered this bombing a dangerous shift that harms the principles of good neighborliness. The continuation of the bombing will not end efforts to counter terrorism in the region, but rather will increase security tension and cast a shadow at the level of Iraq and the region," he included.
