MOHESR discussed with "JICA" the project to establish the Japanese University in Iraq

    The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR) discussed on Wednesday, with the Office of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) the establishment of the Japanese University in Iraq.

    A statement issued by MOHESR, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), said "The Minister of MOHESR, Nabil Kadhim Abdel Sahib received the Gen Yoneda, the Chief Representative of the agency and his accompanying delegation, and they discussed steps of cooperation and partnership in the fields of training and implementation of infrastructure projects for university institutions".

    According to the statement, the two sides discussed the project to establish the Japanese University in Iraq, the projects provided by JICA for the development of educational paths, the contents of memoranda of understanding with a number of Iraqi universities, and the joint academic programs they include and spaces for scientific cooperation for development and qualification."

    Abdul Sahib affirmed the ministry and its institutions’ readiness to proceed in coordination with JICA in Iraq and to form a ministerial working group to organize the horizons of joint cooperation, obtain fundamental approvals, arrange priorities related to infrastructure projects for universities and cultural exchange programs, and determine the required specializations that can serve the Iraqi labor market.

    Gen Yoneda added, according to the statement, expressed his happiness with this meeting and the indications of interest in the environment of international cooperation and partnership, and the identification of goals to be included in projects and memoranda of understanding that pertain to academic institutions in Iraq.
