The European Union representative for foreign affairs and security policy, Josep Borrell, announced today, Sunday, that the European Union will impose "additional sanctions" on Russia if referendums are held in Donetsk, Lugansk, Zaporozhye and Kherson to join the Russian Federation.
"Russia and its political leadership and participants in these referendums, and other violations of international law in Ukraine will be held accountable." Borrell said in a statement.
"Additional restrictive measures against Russia will also be considered," Borrell added.
