Energy transmission line in Kirkuk targeted by terrorist sabotage act: Electricity Ministry

    BAGHDAD-INA

    Ministry of Electricity announced Friday the targeting of a power transmission line in Kirkuk with a terrorist act of sabotage.

    The ministry’s media office stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “at a time when the ministry’s staff are working day and night to ensure the increase and continuity of providing citizens with electric power in light of high temperatures, the electric power transmission lines in the northern region are repeatedly targeted by sabotage acts, which target its capabilities , whose perpetrators intend to harm citizens.”

    The ministry’s media office added that "The engineering and technical staff from the maintenance teams of the lines section of the Kirkuk electricity network department , in cooperation with the security forces and the engineering effort, proceeded to the scene of the accident, and began work on reconstructing the damaged tower, rewiring the line and returning it to service as soon as possible."

     It also explained that the Director-General, Khaled Ghazai, directed the engineering and technical staff in Salah al-Din Governorate to quickly provide power temporarily via an alternative line and restore electric power to the affected areas until the completion of the construction work of the fallen tower and repairing the damage.

     The Ministry of Electricity appealed to all the security forces, to whom we appreciate their efforts, to focus, station and run emergency regiments along the lines , to preserve the electric power transmission system and transmission towers from sabotage elements.
