President Barzani held meeting with the Kurdistan parties

    The Kurdistan parties held a meeting, on Wednesday, with the political parties in the presence of the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Iraq, Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, came out with two recommendations during its meeting in Erbil.
     
    A statement by the presidency, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that "under the supervision of the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, and in the presence of Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Iraq, Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, the meeting of the Presidency of the Kurdistan Region was held today, Wednesday (August 10, 2022), with the Kurdish political parties to discuss about the upcoming elections in the Kurdistan region.
     
    The statement added, "At the beginning of the meeting, President Nechirvan Barzani thanked Plasschaert and the political parties for accepting the invitation of the Presidency of the Kurdistan Region, and expressed his hope that the political parties would reach an understanding on setting the appointment for holding the elections and solving the problems, stressing the importance of the elections for the Kurdistan Region.”

    Plasschaert said, the importance of the parties reaching an understanding on the issue of the elections and setting the appointment for holding them, and expressed the full support of the United Nations for the success of the process, and stressed the need to reach a result as soon as possible, because there is not much time available.

    The statement continued, "The Vice President of the Kurdistan Region, Mustafa Sayed Qadir, presented the report of the Kurdistan Region Presidency Committee, with oversee the issue of the elections, and the political parties presented their exchange of views."
