AIIF: Arresting 80 infiltrators and foiling smuggling operations on the Iraqi border

    The Federal Intelligence and Investigation Agency (AIIF ) at the Ministry of Interior announced on Wednesday, the arrest of 80 infiltrators and the foiling of smuggling operations on the Iraqi borders within two months.

    AIIF said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "the detachments of AIIF in the Ministry of Interior were able to arrest 80 people of different nationalities during their attempt to infiltrate across the Iraqi border and thwarted a number of smuggling operations for different materials during the past two months."

    The statement added, “The arrest of 20 people who tried to infiltrate into Iraqi territory, holding foreign nationalities, and the arrest of 20 other people of Arab nationalities who tried to infiltrate into Iraqi territory across the border with Syria."

    It continued, “40 infiltrators of different nationalities were arrested in different provinces (Wasit, Kirkuk, Sulaymaniyah, Dohuk, Nineveh, and Erbil), their number reached 40 people of different nationalities, one of whom had 4 and 5 (Brno) weapons, and another person tried to smuggle 183 sheep in the first border area."

    It pointed out that " AIIF detachments seized during the same period a truck carrying 17 tons of electric elevators and another carrying 28 tons of agricultural fertilizers during an attempt to smuggle them into Iraqi territory in the Kirkuk Governorate, in addition to seizing 20 glucana with a capacity of 30 liters carrying the substance (acid) that is used in making marijuana.
