The British Ambassador to Iraq
, Mark Bryson, urged all political parties to exercise restraint and reduce escalation.
Bryson said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the freedom to demonstrate peacefully and respect the institutions and property of the state is an important part of a healthy democracy, and I welcome the balanced security response to the demonstrations so far.".
"However, I am concerned about the increase in tension and urge all parties to exercise restraint and de-escalate," he added.
