Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein confirmed, today, Tuesday, work to persuade the Security Council to issue a resolution to remove Turkish forces from Iraq.
Hussein said in a statement to Al-Iraqiya News, which was followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "We are working to persuade the members of the Security Council to issue a resolution to remove Turkish forces from Iraqi territory during today's emergency session," noting that "the council is expected to issue an important decision regarding the Turkish aggression."
He added, "Turkey's attempt to deny that it was behind the bombing of Dohuk will not help it, and we have information confirming that it carried out the attack.".
He pointed out that "Iraq has two problems, represented by the presence of Turkish forces in its territory, as well as elements of the Kurdistan Workers' Party, and it is not acceptable to export Turkish problems and solve them in Iraqi territory."
He added, "There is no agreement that allows the presence of Turkish forces on Iraqi territory," explaining that "we want relations with neighboring Turkey, and we have to sit at the negotiating table to build good relations between the two countries.
