Air Force: We are able to support the security units and secure the borders

    The Commander of the Air Force, Lieutenant-General Shihab Jahid, confirmed that the Iraqi air fleet is sufficient to accomplish its basic tasks and support security forces and secure the borders, while pointing out the need for advanced equipment in order to detect violations at the Iraqi borders.

    Lieutenant-General Jahid told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the number of the Iraqi air fleet is sufficient in terms of combat aircraft, reconnaissance and transport missions, and the air force has enough to accomplish the main task, which is to protect the land, water, and sky of Iraq," stressing that "the Iraqi air force is able to Supporting security forces and ensuring adequate protection for Iraq's borders."

    He added, "There are common challenges between the air force and air defense," noting that "in all countries of the world and all air defense systems, there must be the right factors and infrastructure to secure the protection of the homeland."

    He pointed out that "the air force needs modern, advanced equipment that enters service for the purpose of securing the main task, which is to detect violations, if they exist, at the borders with neighboring countries." 

    He stressed, "The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, the Minister of Defense and the Army Chief of Staff put the Air Force under their eyes and support, and there is a seriousness on their part to raise the level of the Air Force's combat capability to secure the basic mission that requires a number of aircraft that serve the purpose to carry out these tasks and cover the basic mission."
