227 total cases and 36 deaths of VHFs in Iraq

    INA - BAGHDAD 

    Iraqi Ministry of Health announced on Saturday, that the cases toll of viral hemorrhagic fever - VHFs has risen to 227, including 36 deaths around the country.

    The ministry detected a single case in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number to 227, according to the statement of the spokesman for the Ministry of Health, Saif Al-Badr, to Al-Iraqiya News, followed up by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.

    He added that "92 cases out of the total were recorded in Dhi Qar, which had the largest number of deaths due reaching 20 cases."

    Al-Badr expected a rise in the number of cases due to the approaching of Eid al-Adha, considering that "random slaughtery constitute the biggest challenge, and there must be more seriousness on the part of the competent authorities to hold violators accountable."

    In terms of the Cholera file, the health spokesman confirmed that no new cases were recorded, noting that "the total number is 139, including 70 in Kirkuk, and two deaths in Kirkuk and Baghdad."
