announced that there is initiative to establish 4 regions in Baghdad, Najaf and on the borders with Iran and Jordan.
The director of the authority, Munther Abdul-Amir Asad, said, in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "there are a number of important decisions through an executive summary issued," noting that "our next step is to establish a free zone adjacent to Baghdad International Airport that deals with (3) businesses that are: Air freight and the establishment of projects for aviation services, aircraft maintenance and aviation-related events, and thirdly, ground services, and such a project we will present as an investment opportunity.”.
He added, "We are also seeking to establish a free zone at Najaf International Airport, and a free zone in Basra Governorate near the Iranian border in the Shalamjah area.".
He continued, "We are striving and making great efforts to succeed in establishing a joint economic zone on the borders between Iraq and Jordan, and part of it will be a free zone, and there are many future plans."
