The Prime Minister and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, issued today, Monday, new directives to the security services.
A statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) said that Al-Kadhimi chaired a meeting of the Ministerial Council for National Security, in the presence of the police chiefs of the central and southern governorates, and the head of the Judicial Supervision Authority.
According to the statement, the meeting discussed the security situation in the country, security plans and the intelligence effort required to enhance security in all governorates.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces renewed the previous directives on maintaining security and stability, preventing abuse, and not complacency in imposing the prestige of the state and the rule of law, and stressed the rejection of any transgression against the security Institutions and members of our heroic forces, and tough and strict legal procedures will be taken against the transgressors.
According to the statement, the council touched on the scourge of drugs and commended the great efforts made by the security services in pursuing drug gangs, and directed the development of a new strategy to eliminate drug trafficking, and studying the formation of a special body with broad powers to pursue drug dealers.
