Al-Kadhimi issues new directives to the security services

    The Prime Minister, Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, today, Friday, issued new directives to the security services. 

    The media office of the Prime Minister stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Al-Kadhimi chaired an emergency meeting of the security and military leaders at the headquarters of the Joint Operations Command, to discuss the terrorist attack carried out by ISIS terrorist gangs in Al-Azim district, Diyala Governorate, which led to the martyrdom of an officer and a number of others.". 

    At the beginning of the meeting, Al-Kadhimi offered his condolences and sympathy to the families of the martyrs, asking God Almighty to have mercy on the martyrs with his vast mercy, and inspire their families patience and solace, and vowed to avenge their blood through military operations to pursue the remnants of ISIS terrorist and overthrow its leaders, citing the military operations carried out by our heroic forces earlier in the Taji region and it killed a number of leaders of ISIS terrorist gangs. 

    Al-Kadhimi confirmed, according to the statement, that "the remnants of ISIS have broken their back, and are committing crimes randomly after they lost all their presence on the ground, and their burrows fell one after another under the feet of our armed forces.". 

    The statement continued, "During the meeting, the preliminary results of the investigations that the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces had directed to conduct immediately after the incident were reviewed, and Al-Kadhimi stressed the need not to repeat such security breaches, he also directed the intelligence and national security agencies to double the intelligence effort, and directed his sovereignty to strengthen Security coordination between all military and security agencies. 

    During the meeting, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces stressed the initiation of a reassessment of the leaders of the security and military services in Diyala Governorate, and the formation of inspection committees to follow up on the implementation of the directives issued by his sovereignty regarding military plans and the completion of military requirements. 

    Al-Kadhimi vowed to hold all negligent people accountable, regardless of their positions and ranks, in light of the final results of the investigations, stressing: "The blood of Iraqis and the blood of our youth is not cheap, and our responsibility is to protect Iraqi blood and enhance the country's security and stability.". 

    The statement noted that "the meeting witnessed a review of security developments throughout the country and on the borders, and directed the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces to double the security effort on the Iraqi-Syrian border, after the events in the Syrian prison of Hasaka.".
