The Ministry of Water Resources announced today, Saturday ,developing a comprehensive and expanded plan to confront the emergency floods in Basra, while indicating the creation of (66) mechanisms to prevent flooding and treat torrential rains.
The Director of the Water Resources Directorate in Basra, Jumaa Shaya, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The ministry and all its formations are ready to confront floods and emergencies that may occur in Basra province during the coming days, indicating that" (66) mechanisms have been prepared to curb floods, treat and confront Possible and expected floods.
Shaya added that "A comprehensive and expanded plan has been developed in the center of the province and all districts to control the floods, as the plan was prepared by the Directorate of Water Resources in Basra Governorate and in cooperation with the crisis cell in the province headed by Basra Governor Asaad Al-Eidani, as well as in cooperation with the Directorate of Civil Defense, and the Directorate of Sewage in the governorate, and the Basra Water Directorate.”
He also stressed that "The Directorate of Water Resources is fully prepared to face any emergency that may occur due to the intensity of rain that may occur in the coming days, and the situation will be completely controlled in all areas of the governorate, whether it is in the city center or in the districts and sub-districts."
