The Ministry of Culture revealed today, Monday, a great cooperation to return Iraqi antiquities, while indicating the return of thousands of pieces, most notably the Gilgamesh Tablet.
The Minister of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities, Hassan Nazim, said in a press conference held at the headquarters of the Antiquities and Heritage Authority and attended by the correspondent of the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "There is great cooperation to return the artifacts, as we are witnessing a new era in the Antiquities and Heritage Authority to return our antiquities and in cooperation with other institutions," noting that "there is an awareness of interest in Artifacts".
He added that "there are great efforts made by workers in the Antiquities and Heritage Authority and other government institutions such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and our embassies in the world, which led to the return of thousands of artifacts, the most important of which is the return of the Gilgamesh Tablet and the Sumerian ram, which will be held in a small ceremony tomorrow to receive it and retrieve it by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs," noting that " The slogan of the Antiquities and Heritage Authority is the preservation of antiquities and its most prominent activity is the retrieval of antiquities, and after the corona subsides, there is a resumption of excavation missions.
