German Ambassador Martin Jaeger confirmed on Wednesday, his country's interest in the Iraqi cultural heritage and its work to intensify work with Baghdad, while noting that the Tigris Nights Festival for short films is the beginning of joint art cooperation.
"We work everywhere in the world in cooperation with France and Iraq intensively in all fields, including art,” said the German ambassador during a joint press conference with the Minister of Culture, Hassan Nadhim, and the French ambassador, Eric Chevalier, on the sidelines of the Tigris Nights Festival for short films, which was attended by the correspondent of the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
He added, "Germany has a decision to intensify joint work with Iraq, and we have many French and German joint works that will be presented at the festival,"
"Germany's interest in the Iraqi cultural heritage, and the achievements that Mesopotamia gave to mankind, especially writing,” he expressed.
In response to a question by the Iraqi News Agency correspondent, the German ambassador said that "the Tigris Nights Festival is the beginning of joint cooperation with Iraq, and we have previous cooperation in the fields of literature and antiquities,"
