Al-Kadhimi’s advisor: Referring number of officers to investigation for promoting electoral campaigns

    The Prime Minister's Advisor for Electoral Security Affairs, Muhannad Naim, confirmed today, Friday, that the special voting plan was implemented very well, noting that number of officers had been referred to investigation as a result to promote for some  electoral campaigns.
     
    Naim told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, after the launch of the candidates' propaganda campaigns, emphasized that the members of the security forces are prohibited to carry out any promotional process for the candidates."
     
     
    Naim added, "There is a large network of security and intelligence members, consisting of the National Security Service, the Intelligence Service, Military Intelligence, AIFI, Security and Defense Intelligence, that worked together to monitor cases of promotion, and implement the law  ," stressing "the arrest of more than one member, and the referral of number of officers to investigation."
     
    He stressed, "There is no pressure or manipulation cases by or on the security forces , and this is very important point ," noting that "flocking at the polling stations is a positive point, as there is a great turnout by the armed forces that perform their national duty."
     
     
     
     
    Naim also confirmed that "These elections are the first in the region that witnesses a very large number of international observers and missions specialized in the law, and not just international diplomatic missions, and this is a completely different matter, in addition to the fact that special teams for the monitoring process of the electoral environment are present 10 days before the election date, the monitoring process are taking place, and we have secured the movement of the international observers throughout Iraq. "
     
    It’s to be mentioned that, polling stations opened today, Friday for special voting at 7:00 a.m. Baghdad time in the first early parliamentary elections in the country since 2003.
     
     
     
    The special vote includes members of the security services, prisoners and IDPs, while the general polling will take place next Sunday throughout Iraq, in which 3,249 candidates, 21 coalitions, and 109 parties are competing.
