The Ministry of Defense confirmed today, Friday that the special voting process is going smoothly.
The commander of the second military discipline regiment at the Ministry of Defense, Colonel Yahya Khalaf Hassan, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The electoral process is very easy and smooth, and there is great cooperation from IHEC," noting that "the security forces provided protection for all the electoral centers."
He added that "the ministry organized a number of lectures for its personnel regarding the regulations of the special voting to facilitate the voting process."
It’s to be mentioned that, polling stations opened today, Friday for special voting at 7:00 a.m. Baghdad time in the first early parliamentary elections in the country since 2003.
The special vote includes members of the security services, prisoners and IDPs, while the general polling will take place next Sunday throughout Iraq, in which 3,249 candidates, 21 coalitions, and 109 parties are competing.
