The Joint Operations Command confirmed today, Thursday that the security forces on high alert to implement the security plan for the upcoming parliamentary elections, stressing that it would not allow any aggression or pressure on citizens in the electoral centers.
"The security forces achieved, during their operations in Tarmiyah district, north of Baghdad, an important qualitative, security and intelligence efforts, with the National Security Service obtaining security information about The presence of ISIS members in some areas of the district,” noting that “the operations will continue in Tarmiyah,” said The spokesman for JOC, Major General Tahsin al-Khafaji in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
Al-Khafaji added, "The security forces killed two suicide bombers who wanted to blow themselves up in Baghdad or its outskirts, after obtaining the security information by the military operations in Tarmiyah," noting that "The Agency of Intelligence and Federal Investigation at the Ministry of Interior was able to penetrate ISIS terrorist gangs through their sources and obtain important information on the sources of financing and terrorist operations, as well as knowing the transport routes, sources of supply, their locations and timing of transport. "
He pointed out that "This information was handed over to the Air Force Command, as it was translated into air strikes, through which they were able to kill up to 15 terrorists in Hamrin Mountains".
Regarding the elections and the security plan for them, Al-Khafaji said, "The security plan for the elections included all provinces and they are all ready," stressing that "our forces have great response to face any challenge or breach that may occur."
He added, "Our security forces, with all their formations, are on full alert," noting that they are "prepared and ready to implement the plan and will not allow any security breach in any electoral center, in addition to that they will not allow any attack or pressure on citizens during the elections."
He stressed that "The security forces will deal with the security plan professionally and will never allow any threat to the security and safety of citizens."
