The Secretary General of the Peshmerga Ministry, Lt. Gen. Jabbar Yawar, confirmed on Monday, that the file of Turkish violations of Iraqi territory is the responsibility of the federal government, noting that the region has no right to make security agreements with the neighboring countries.
Yawar told The Iraqi News Agency (INA ) that “the file of Turkish violations is related to the Iraqi sovereignty and is the responsibility of the federal government;” clarifying that “Turkish warplanes penetrate Iraqi airspace daily at an estimated distance of 250 km.”
He added that “Turkish forces are entering Iraqi territory 45 kilometers wide and 200 kilometers long without any condemnation” noting that “Turkey is using the fight against the PKK as a pretext to violate the Iraqi sovereignty."
Yawar continued that "Kurdistan region can't interfere in these issues and has no legal right to make security agreements with neighboring countries."
